A Pioneering Beginning
For over 130 years, the Sebire family has been nurturing Australia’s finest cherries. Our story began in 1893 at the historic Mont De Lancey farm in Victoria’s Yarra Valley, where Henry Sebire established our first orchard in Wandin North. His pioneering spirit led to our first international export just two years later in 1895, when he shipped the farm’s apples and pears to London.
The Birth of Wandin Valley Farms
The modern chapter of our story began in the early 1980s when Graeme Sebire, Henry’s great-grandson, and his wife Eileen founded Wandin Valley Farms alongside five other Yarra Valley families. Since 2007, the business has been solely owned and operated by the Sebire and Jones families, with three generations now actively continuing our cherished family tradition.
Growing Beyond Our Roots
Today, we’ve grown from our Yarra Valley roots to manage orchards across Victoria and Tasmania, giving us one of the longest cherry harvest windows in the Southern Hemisphere. While our operations have expanded, our commitment to growing only ‘the finest fresh cherries’ remains unchanged – a passion passed down through generations of the Sebire family.
Our Heritage Lives On
Our heritage lives on at the Mont De Lancey homestead, which the Sebire family donated to the local community in the early 1990s. Now a beloved historic house and museum open to the public, it stands as a testament to our deep roots in the Yarra Valley community.
